Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year for 2020 is pandemic—and we’re not surprised! In an article Writer’s Relief found on Merriam-Webster.com, we learned the yearly selection is based on a statistical analysis of the words looked up in the online dictionary. By early March, pandemic was being looked up an average of 4,000% over 2019 levels! Top lookups this year also included malarkey, kraken, and antebellum.
