Click on the video above to hear about Emily’s publishing experience with Writer’s Relief!

Our featured client, Emily Rubin, has been publishing her work for many years. In fact, her novel Stalina was a selection from the Amazon Debut Novel Award Contest, and was published by Mariner Books in 2011. But two years into her MFA program, Emily realized she felt out of the loop and overwhelmed with the submissions process, so she teamed up with Writer’s Relief. Emily’s work has been published in Mudlark, Red Rock Review, Ghost City Review, and many others!

Read on and watch the video to hear how Writer’s Relief helped Emily navigate the submissions process with ease—and much success!

In Emily’s Own Words

I have been writing and publishing my fiction and essays for fifteen years. My debut novel, Stalina, was a pick from the Amazon Debut Novel Award Contest, and I have had stories published in various literary journals. I went back to school after many years in 2015 to get an MFA in creative writing—which I was very glad to have the opportunity to do—and went with the goal to become a better writer and improve my chances for publication and employment.

I found after two years that I was out of the loop of the submission process, and I wanted to get back in the game. But the proliferation of journals and online submission opportunities was dizzying! I felt stuck and frustrated that I was not sending work out and was not sure how to proceed. I also had little time for research.

So I joined Writer’s Relief a few months ago. From day one, the editorial and research teams have been attentive, sensitive, and artful about my work—and laser-sharp in focusing on places to submit. I am not ashamed to say I need deadlines, and those are built in to working with Writer’s Relief. The team helped me to move forward in the submissions process with ease, and I could not be more pleased with the results.

Every piece I have sent out with their help has been accepted for publication, and I did not wait months for the acceptances. The responses came quickly, and with inspiring feedback. Many places got back to me congratulating me and letting me know they would be happy to see more of my work.

Next up, I am looking forward to working with the team on getting my new novel out into the world. Writer’s Relief is an impressive and artful group who love writing and who have great respect for writers’ time and artistic integrity. I hope my very positive experience with them will inspire you to take the leap and send them your stories. It has helped to keep me writing and to get published—and it could do the same for you!
