It’s that time of year…
So take a break from the holiday stresses (writing, making merry, and wrapping presents all at the same time).
Find out which reindeer you are in Santa’s herd!
Favorite genre: Blogging. The seat-of-the-pants writer. Loves to break the news. Pushes “publish,” asks questions later.
Favorite genre: Poetry. Gets carried away by the music of words. Gushes and revels. Adores rhyme. Regularly seen wearing lavender and smelling of patchouli.
Favorite genre: Literary fiction. Straitlaced and scholarly, believes in hiding technique. Loves ascots and tweed. Doesn’t want to be confused with the likes of Dancer.
Favorite genre: Anything with vampires. Not averse to lengthy love scenes and cover art with shadowy, long-haired men.
Favorite genre: Flash fiction. Burns fast and bright, but a little distant and elusive. A regular at open mike night.
Favorite genre: Old-school Mills and Boon romances. Loves billionaire playboy sheiks who are reformed by virginal nurses. Stories for all time.
Favorite genre: Horror. The plagiarist. Cannibalizes other writers’ works. Owns trench coats in three different shades of black.
Favorite genre: Thrillers. A jaded chain-smoker. Pounds on plot points with shock-and-awe relentlessness, but secretly pines for “the one who got away.”
Favorite genre: Inspirational biography. The underdog who never gives up despite the odds, then goes on to get rhinoplasty and date a supermodel after he makes his millions.
QUESTION: Which reindeer are you?
Oh deer! (get it?)
I’m a Dancer!
I’d be Dancer, minus the lavender and patchouli. (And I only love internal rhyme!) But I do so get “carried away by the music of words.” I’ve also definitely been known to gush and revel. Plus, mix in a little of Rudolph for good measure. I’m all for inspirational biography, minus the money, rhinoplasty, and supermodel girlfriend.
Deer I say, I’m a Vixen? (See what I did there?)
I would be Blitzen and Rudolph.
Definately Rudolph! I love writing memoir and my story is almost as sad as Rudolph’s, minus the rhinoplasty.:)
It looks like I’m a Cupid… deer, oh, deer!
I’m definitely Rudolph 😉
If you’re looking for Cupid, count me in.I love spending time with Blitzen’s and Prancer’s sisters! Just call me a player!
Definitely a Prancer, but dare I say far less pretentious than that description would make me sound! I couldn’t write poetry with a gun to my head.I don’t have the command of language to be that succinct. Give me fiction all the way!
I’m a Dasher-Comet-Prancer type. Split personality?
Dancer at last–complete with lavender and patchouli! I was too much of a Prancer in my teens and 20’s–making up for it now in my later years. I agree with Natalia, though, and prefer internal rhyme.
I’m a 3/5 Rudolph with 2/5 Comet mix; minus the fiction, rhinoplasty and dating the millionaire. I’ve overcome my fear of speaking along time ago via sheer determination and I grew up cheering for the underdog, despite the way my family about it. I have found that the truth can be just as wild a ride as fiction any day, if given the opportunity to speak.
If I have to be one of your holiday reindeer, it is definitely DASHER. Blogging is fun especially when it evokes an immediate response from readers.
Whichever reindeer you are, happy writing, have fun, and enjoy the holidays. ~Pam
The nearest I am is a reindeer, but I’m not that sort either!
Rudolph, definitely. But remember, it takes a whole team to pull a sleigh (I mean, fill a library!)
I’m a little bit of Comet and Prancer. At least I hope I am :^)
Yes! I have an identity – I’m Dasher!
Blogging is a great way to express everything I really want to say, while writing newsworthy ‘stuff’ brings a paycheck. It’s the best of both worlds!
Prancer! Dancer! I’m cross genre! What a monster…
I’m a Dasher and a Vixen. What a combination!
Alas, I do not fit any category as I write Science Fiction. Words flow when I am on another world or if I mix the genre with Earth’s history. You may have spoken to an Earth-alien being and never known it.
Mari, Science fiction…maybe you’re ALL the reindeer…since flying reindeer in general seem pretty science fiction-y! 🙂
I am a little bit Donner and a little bit Blitzen, but late at night, I secretly long for Rudolph.
Hmm oh deer. I guess I have a little of all of them. I write a little bit of this & a little bit of that. I am a multiple personality deer aren’t I? 😉
Occasionally I’m a Dasher but 99% of the time I’m a Vixen! Cute game! 🙂
Prancer and Blizten (but I don’t plagiarize ever), intentionally.I always aim for new ideas. I just think like others sometimes. I love non fiction; romances, horror, anything with at least a little suspense (romances have tons of suspense -even my own).
Flying reindeer? More magic, I’d say.
I am Dancer, but with a major crush on Blitzen.
These descriptions apply to me – I think – as both a writer and a reader! Thanks for the fun distraction.
Prancer! I’ve been working hard lately not to show off technique but disguise it. As a creative nonfiction writer it’s taken me a long time to want to do this, comfortable as I was with demonstrating all the ‘good learnin” gleaned in grad school. In truth, though, finding a means of including internal poetry occasionally turns me into Dancer.
Suzanne Hills’ comment is funny: ‘I’m a 3/5 Rudolph with 2/5 Comet mix’
Cheers! Feliz Navidad Y Prospero Ano Nuevo

I like to think I’m Rudolph. Don’t get me wrong, I am the underdog who never gives up despite the odds. I hope to get the rewards at some point too though. Happy Holidays Everyone! 😀
I’m a mix of Dancer, Dasher and Prancer. With a dash of Rudolph.
i am a 19 yr. writing and a 7 yr. reciting dancer who loves vocab., words, language and diversity of poetic flows.
I think I must be a genetic mutation, because I saw myself in three or four of these whimsical ruminants.
Hmmmmm dancer-prancer-cupid-Rudolf. I’m a multiple personality type. LOL!
I guess, by process of elimination, I’m a Dancer, since there aren’t and sci-fi/fantasy/action reindeer in the list. Maybe that’s Twinkletoe’s department?
I think I’m a Prancer and Dancer, less the ascot, patchouli, and tweed. I love poetry, and love to keep my ways to myself.
I am a cross between Dasher and Vixen.
Your Deer Blitzen here =)
As a reader, usually Blitzen
As a writer, Dancer mostly.
Merry Christmas to all of Santa’s reindeers!
