BookTok, a corner of TikTok where people talk about books to read, has been largely overlooked by the literary community. Yet, according to this article Writer’s Relief found on LitHub.com, authors who ignore BookTok are missing out on a great way to promote their books. Author Leigh Stein believes more writers should embrace this powerful word-of-mouth juggernaut. According to Publishers Lunch, the top 90 BookTok authors saw their cumulative sales go from nine million units in 2020 to 20 million in 2021.
