With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.—William Shakespeare

This April marks both Shakespeare’s 452nd birthday and the 400th anniversary of his death. Credited with writing 37 plays and 154 sonnets that have stood the test of time, Shakespeare was a keen observer of human nature. What would he think of the world today? As a writer who enjoyed a good time (we don’t think a stick-in-the-mud could have created something as rollicking as A Midsummer Night’s Dream), we think Shakespeare would visit a trendy café where he could enjoy a Frappuccino while reading an e-book—and taking a selfie!

Why not help the Bard of Avon celebrate this momentous month? Print out the photo below and take Shakespeare out for a 21st-century birthday bash! Bring him to the local watering hole for a birthday cocktail (do they still serve mead?), or let him check out his own books in a local library or bookstore! Maybe he’d like to ride the subway or toss on a pair of sunglasses and hit the beach. Take him to visit famous landmarks near you—we bet Shakespeare’s never been to the Grand Canyon or the Eiffel Tower!

Be sure to capture Shakespeare’s adventures by snapping lots of selfies with the Bard! Share your best photos with us in the comment section below; on the Writer’s Relief Facebook page; or on Writer’s Relief’s Twitter using #ShakespeareSelfie.

To quote the birthday boy: Boldness be my friend! So be bold: Print out the image below, take a few Shakespeare selfies, and be sure to share the fun with us!
