We are pleased to introduce Featured Client Jodi Adamson! A talented poet, Jodi has mastered the skill of utilizing all five senses in her work, her language bursting with life and energy. Each of Jodi’s poems transcends the written word to become a unique experience for the reader. Her writing has appeared in Amarillo Bay, RiverSedge, and other literary journals and anthologies. In Jodi Adamson’s Own Words

My dream has always been to be a published writer. I wasn’t looking for fame, fortune, or even a writing career. I just wanted to stroll down the aisle of my local bookstore, find a book authored by me, snap a few pictures, and run out of the store grinning. However, there were two obstacles I had to overcome: time and self-doubt. Writer’s Relief helped me with both. First, they accepted me as a client AFTER reading my work. Second, very helpful staff members did the busy work: researching, editing, writing query letters, mailing my submissions, and, later on, emailing them as well. Writer’s Relief even has an online client-only submission report that allows me to keep track of the writing that I submit on my own. That was especially useful when I started getting acceptances. Receiving acceptances led to more self-confidence, and thus more attempts to send out my work. Without Writer’s Relief, some encouraging authors, and my great family and friends, my dream wouldn’t have come true. Okay, so I didn’t see my poem “Steampunk Alchemy” in the bookstore physically, but the anthology Dreams of Steam III Gadgets, published by Kerlak Publishing, is available on online bookstores and Amazon. I think, in this day and age, Amazon availability is a worthy modification of the dream. Don’t you?

More About Jodi Adamson

Jodi Adamson has done creative writing in one form or another since third grade. Following this early beginning, she continued to dabble in writing short stories, essays, and poetry—although poetry is her preference.

Jodi has won several awards in different categories of the contests sponsored by the Alabama State Poetry Society, of which she is treasurer. Her poems have been accepted by literary journals such as Amarillo BayClackamas Literary Review, Crack the Spine, Forge, The Griffin, The Old Red Kimono, Poetry East, The Prelude, RiverSedge, and SNR. Her poem, “Steampunk Alchemy,” was included in the anthology Dreams of Steam III Gadgets, published by Kerlak Publishing in 2013. An essay about her great-grandmother, “Leola Jones, Portrait of a Southern Lady,” won second place in the 2012 Alabama Day Essay Contest, open to the Alabama Daughters of the American Revolution. Two of her short stories, “The Red Lady” and “The Beach Thriller,” can be found in the anthology It Was a Dark and Stormy Night, edited by Joyce Norman and published by Coyote Moon Press. Also, Jodi and Stacey Hopson, the illustrator, self-published The Ten Commandments for Pharmacists, a humorous look at the daily trials and tribulations of retail pharmacy, available at the Xlibris website.

When she isn’t writing, Jodi (aka Dr. Jodi) can be found dispensing medications, giving vaccinations, and counseling patients at a local pharmacy. She also reads, designs and sews costumes for her personal use, collects TV and movie memorabilia, and caters to the whims of two cats and a beagle. Also, Jodi still hasn’t given up on the idea of writing a novel sometime in the future.

    Hi,
Very interesting information, and I would like to address a few.

    1) I am a published writer (3 books, working on a 4th)

    2) Not interested in fame or glory unless it knocks on my door. I’m looking for an interested agent or publisher or screen writer, so that I can cover my bills. I write myth/metaphysics and historical fiction.

    Thank you,

    Nick

Thanks, Sue:) I was so nervous. I almost didn’t do it because of the video, but I’m so glad I did. I love Writer’s Relief, and I’m happy to help them like they helped me.
