Click on the video above to hear about Jill’s experience with Writer’s Relief!

Jill Dalton is an accomplished actress, an award-winning playwright—and a self-proclaimed “jaded New Yorker.” So when she wanted to get her essays published in literary journals, Jill was a bit skeptical about using Writer’s Relief. Happily, Jill learned our reputation for success is well-deserved: She’s been published in Delmarva Review, Evening Street Review, and The MacGuffin, just to name a few!

Read on and watch the video to hear how Writer’s Relief not only boosted Jill’s productivity, but also helped her get not one, not two, not three, but FIVE acceptances in less than a year!

In Jill’s Own Words

Being a writer is sort of like being a monk. My work is done in solitude, so I read my writing aloud in my acting workshop to receive feedback. I incorporate the input that works and leave the rest.

After a couple of years of doing this, I had so many stories but no idea what to do with them. I wanted my work to go out into the world—not sit on my computer like some long-forgotten friend.

One afternoon I stumbled upon the Writer’s Relief website. I sent them three of my stories, and they accepted me as a client. I was excited, but as a jaded New Yorker, I was also skeptical. So I decided to try Writer’s Relief for a year.

Working with Writer’s Relief, I immediately had a team of experts to help me navigate the world of publishing. For each piece I sent out, Writer’s Relief supplied me with a list of publications targeted specifically to my work, including editor’s names, where to send the essay, and any specific requirements needed for submitting each piece. (If you don’t want to do the submitting, Writer’s Relief can do that for you too!) They created a cover letter and bio for me. Their top-notch proofreading department goes over each piece with a fine-toothed comb. I use Grammarly and AutoCrit, and I’m always amazed by how many corrections Writer’s Relief still finds. Writer’s Relief also has a system to keep track of all the responses and acceptances you receive. And because of their deadlines, I’m able to stay focused and keep producing.

So what happened? Drumroll, please. In less than a year, five of my stories are being published! I couldn’t do this on my own. I’m not interested in spending my time researching who, what, where, and how to send out my work. I’m interested in writing and creating, and working with Writer’s Relief allows me to do that.

Writing gives my life structure, purpose, and meaning, and because of Writer’s Relief, my work is going out into the world where it’s being recognized and appreciated. I’m genuinely grateful for the work Writer’s Relief does and I highly recommend them.
