Click on the video above to hear about Eva-Maria’s experience with Writer’s Relief!

Eva-Maria Sher was first published in her native German. After emigrating to the United States and raising a family, Eva-Maria decided to start writing again—this time in English, a language she adores for its many nuances. However, these days journal research and writing submissions are all online, and Eva-Maria admits she’s not tech savvy. Thankfully, she discovered Writer’s Relief. Now Eva-Maria’s been published many times over! Her poetry has appeared in After Happy Hour Review, The Adirondack Review, Euphony, Forge, riverSedge, Rougarou, and numerous other journals.

Read on and watch the video to hear how Writer’s Relief helped Eva-Maria boost her publishing credits with up-to-the-minute market research and expert submission guidance.

In Eva-Maria’s Own Words

In 2004, I took an online poetry class from the University of Washington and was encouraged to send out my poems for possible publication. It was an arduous task, especially when most submissions were via e-mail and I am such a klutz on the computer. Eventually, I decided that sending out poems wasn’t for me.

Then, in 2008, I heard about Writer’s Relief—and that changed everything. I had excellent help with editing and submitting, and was amazed that already, during my first cycle of submissions, I had an immediate acceptance. Since then, with their very professional, kind, and respectful help, and with their vast knowledge of the literary journal market, double and triple acceptances have become the norm. Over the years, I have enjoyed seeing many of my poems published.

I have recommended Writer’s Relief to many of my poetry buddies and hear that they, too, are indeed relieved, satisfied, and pleased with their service.

More About Eva-Maria

Eva-Maria was born in Germany at the end of World War II. After emigrating to the United States at seventeen, she studied literature and expressive arts, taught, married, and raised a family. Once her children left for college, she felt a longing to write again, but this time in the language of her adopted country. She so enjoys the English language. For example, she likes how words like through, though, and thought “rhyme” visually in a poem. This gives many of her poems a playful feeling, even when they are about serious subjects.

She’s lived on Whidbey Island, Washington, since 2017, near the Organic Farm School (organicfarmschool.org, check it out!), where she and her husband are helping to build a thriving community of people who care for our planet’s health.

Eva-Maria’s poetry has appeared in Big Scream, Bluestem, Cadillac Cicatrix, California Quarterly, Cape Rock, Door Is A Jar Magazine, Dos Passos Review, Drunk Monkeys, East Jasmine Review, Free State Review, Front Range Review, GW Review, The HitchLit Review, The Hollins Critic, I-70 Review, ken*again, The MacGuffin, Old Red Kimono, OxMag, The Paragon Journal, The Penmen Review, Poydras Review, Prism Review, Ship of Fools, Slag Review, Soundings East, Third Wednesday, Vending Machine Press, The Virginia Normal, Westview, and Willow Review. She’s published two books of poems: Chewing Darkness and The Old Villa. In addition, Eva-Maria has written and composed a CD of lullabies. She is the author/illustrator of The Scintillating Little Dragon, a coloring book to encourage and nurture the creative spirit.
