Meet our featured client, Donald McMann! An expert multitasker, Donald taught full time at McEwan University while getting his MFA, but that left very little time for submitting his own work to literary journals. What Donald needed was an assistant to help him do the time-consuming journal research—and he found that at Writer’s Relief. Donald’s work has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous journals, including The Alembic, The Delmarva Review, Evening Street Review, Literary Yard, The Penmen Review, Santa Fe Writers Project Quarterly, Umbrella Factory Magazine, and Verdad.

Read on and watch the video to hear how Writer’s Relief has helped Donald publish every single piece he has submitted through us!

In Donald’s Own Words

I signed on with Writer’s Relief in 2014 and since then I’ve published twelve stories—everything, in fact, that I’ve submitted so far.

For many years I didn’t submit work at all. I spent time earning an MFA from Bennington College and a PhD from the University of Wales Trinity St. David. I was also a full-time instructor during this time. I got plenty of feedback, but over time, I felt a growing need to get some publication credits.

But there was a problem. Submitting work takes time: to research, to prepare the work, to send it out, to track everything. I found I had time to submit or time to write—but not time to do both.

So when I heard about Writer’s Relief, it seemed like a solution—and that’s just what it turned out to be. Writer’s Relief has done a great job of researching markets and managing my submissions, and I value their advice. So much so that I even recommended them to a colleague, who has just had his first story accepted.

Working with Writer’s Relief is like having a partner to help you navigate the very complex world of publishing.
