Congratulations to our featured client, Cathy Allman!

When we first read Cathy’s work back in 2008, we knew it was the beginning of a great professional relationship. We are proud that her work has appeared or is forthcoming in California Quarterly (CQ), Elysian Fields, Front Range Review, The Old Red Kimono, On Location, Pearl, Pisgah Review, and River Poets Journal.

CATHY ON WRITER’S RELIEF: With Writer’s Relief, the process of sending work out is more clinical and compartmentalized. The WR staff has a professional perspective and experience light years past any scope I would ever be able to attain. Their expertise and encouragement allow me to stay in my world of writing from within without getting snagged and tangled in the worries of the outside “business.”

Acceptances and rejections get to be part of the process and not something to be taken personally. The work is personal and the outcome is out of my hands and easier to let go, knowing that it will be in the hands of Writer’s Relief.

I am deeply indebted to their process, organization, proofreading, and encouragement.

ABOUT CATHY: Cathy Allman entered the writing field as a reporter after attending the school of Cinema and Television at the University of Southern California. While her career shifted gears from writing to advertising and marketing, she never stopped writing or attending workshops, eventually earning her master’s degree in creative writing from Manhattanville College. She has reinvested in her writing, and teaches creativity workshops at high schools, at Norwalk Community College, and at her Connecticut office.

“Getting that first poem published was the hardest threshold to cross. My team at Writer’s Relief kept encouraging me…then came the acceptance! We celebrated…then I continued writing, and Writer’s Relief continued doing the wonderful work they do!”

“Every piece I have sent out with their help has been accepted for publication! I am looking forward to working with the team on getting my new novel out into the world.”
