To paraphrase the poem by Carl Sandburg, The holidays come in on little cat feet. They sneak up on you and, suddenly, it’s time to shop for gifts! If you’re looking for the purrfect gifts for family members and friends whose two main loves in life are books and cats, you’re in luck! Writer’s Relief has discovered gifts that bookworms will think are the cat’s meow.

Gift Ideas For Readers Who Love Books and Cats

Books, of course!

Your book-loving friends who also love cats will enjoy the many books with feline characters. Some of our favorites are the Felidae series by Akif Pirinçci, T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, and, of course, Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat.

Book Tote

To help your friends carry around all those wonderful books, why not give them book tote bags featuring felines? There are many delightful designs from which to choose.

Bookmark

Let’s be honest: When cats demand to be fed, we have to put the book down! But that doesn’t mean you have to lose your place. Bookmarks are easy and fun gifts, and there are all sorts of great cat-themed bookmarks available.

Bookends

When they’re not reading the wonderful books in their collections, your ailurophilic friends need to store and display them! How about a set of cat bookends? Again, there are many options out there—from whimsical to realistic to bizarre!

Blanket

For cat lovers there’s nothing quite like curling up with a blanket, a purring cat, and a good book. This blanket is one of our favorites, and adorably combines our passions.

An actual cat!

If your feline fanatic doesn’t have a real kitten to cuddle while reading a good book, why not help him or her find a new furry friend? Of course, you shouldn’t surprise someone with a pet for a gift, but you can recommend that the cat lover in your life adopt from a nearby pet rescue shelter while you offer to supply the cat toys, kitty litter, and catnip. A happy new owner, a happy cat with a new home—a win-win for sure!

Armed with these ideas, shopping for your cat-loving/book-loving friends and family should be easy, fun, and (oh, we can’t resist)—“meow-velous.”
