The Internet is chock-full of great gift ideas for the writers in your life; however, it’s not always easy to find gifts you can offer or create using your writing skills or connections. But don’t worry! The elves here at Writer’s Relief have been busy, and we’ve come up with some possibilities for your holiday shopping list!

Books. While it might seem a bit self-serving to give your friends and family copies of your book, that doesn’t mean you can’t present them with books you enjoy that were written by your critique partner or members of your writing group! Not only will you introduce your loved one to a great book, you will also be supporting the writing community.

Jar of favorite literary quotations. Give the gift of inspiration! Print out (or handwrite, if you have great penmanship or calligraphy talent!) on high-quality paper some of your favorite passages from great literature. Put them in a decorative jar and tie a festive bow around it.

Proofreading or writing services. As a writer, you have skills that many others do not. Why not present your friend with a gift certificate for writing services? And the fellow writers on your list would almost certainly appreciate receiving your proofreading or critique services.

A short memoir. Does someone on your list have a great real-life story to tell but no time to write it down? Help write his or her memoir! You’ll get to spend some time with your loved one—and he or she will have a written record of an important time or event.

Gifts made out of books. Head to your local thrift store, pick up some used books, and get crafty! You can make all sorts of fun décor out of repurposed books: plant holders, wreaths, bookmarks, candleholders—even furniture!

With a little bit of imagination and planning, you can delight everyone on your nice list with unique writing- and reading-related gifts—and you don’t have to break the bank to do it!

But if you’re short on time or not particularly handy with a glue gun and scissors, check out the Writer’s Relief online store. We’ve got lots of fun, clever ideas for your favorite writer, reader—or even yourself! With just a few clicks, your gift shopping will be finished, and you can spend the rest of your free time writing.
