writers are thankful

With Thanksgiving Day coming up, all of our writers (both clients and staff members) have been reflecting on the past year—and it turns out many of us have a lot to be grateful about! From successes to positive learning experiences, here are the things our writers are most thankful for:

Support

“As a writer, the thing I’m the most thankful for is having people who are willing to read my work and offer suggestions, whether it’s the first draft of a work or the fiftieth. Having a few extra pairs of eyes to review a piece makes such a difference, and getting great feedback from others often helps me see a story or poem in an entirely new light.” — Ally T.

New Perspectives

“I am thankful that I’ve cultivated a way of looking at the world that enables me to recognize beauty in everything; even in the most seemingly ordinary occurrences in life. There is beauty in all; I am endlessly inspired and grateful.” — Nicky H.

Inspiration

“As a writer, I’m thankful simply to be writing—to still have inspiration and drive throughout all the stresses of daily adult life. I’m also thankful for the small handful of publication credits I’ve garnered and the hope that my writing might be going somewhere.” — Daniele H.

Continued Success

“I am thankful for receiving my first photography acceptance. Additionally, I am thankful for receiving a total of four acceptances of my first short story submission. I am very excited to submit my newest short story next month, and am thankful for the added credits to my cover letter!” — Morgan S.

“The past year has given me so much to be thankful for: five publications, a husband who encourages me to write, and a brand-new son who forces me to really use the few hours a week I have budgeted for writing. I have a teaching job that makes writing possible, a little office with a window, parents who live nearby, and a sister who, in leaving her glamorous job to return to school in her late thirties, inspires me to pursue what I love, however hard. When did it get so good? I’ve had a life that has left enough scars to fuel my writing but hasn’t left so many that I can’t sit back and enjoy it.” — Saramanda S.

“Here are the things I’m thankful for as a writer (and otherwise):
-good health as an octogenarian
-occasional inspirations
-people who help me move my work from my hard drive to the reading public
-the readers themselves.” — Ed B.

A Sense of Humor

“I am thankful to have what is hopefully a good sense of humor that helps me to view most ordinary situations in a different light. Finding the words to express the comedy in everyday life is something I’m grateful for not only as a nonfiction writer, but as a person. It helps make the drier parts of life a little less mundane.” — Anthony C.
