As Aretha is exposed to the underground world, she examines what it means to be successful in the corporate world when doomsday may be just around the corner.

Bad Cree by Jessica Johns

This horror-laced story explores the boundaries of dreams, reality, and culture. Intense dreams of a murder of crows haunt Mackenzie as she grieves the death of her sister. But the crows begin stalking her in the day as well, and Mackenzie receives threatening texts that are supposedly coming from her sister, Sabrina. She turns to her family for support, but ultimately must face  what really happened at the lake on the night of her sister’s death.

Hijab Butch Blues: A Memoir by Lamya H

This brave, hopeful memoir is one of the most anticipated books of 2023. While living in the Middle East, Lamya spent her teenage years wrestling with her attraction to women as well as her faith in Allah. To make sense of what she’s feeling, Lamya ultimately compares her experiences and struggles to some of the most famous stories in the Quran. This coming-of-age collection of essays reveals how Lamya came to own her identity as a queer Muslim immigrant.
