Like many writers, just the thought of sending out submissions made Angie Minkin break into a cold sweat. As a result, her submissions were scattershot and infrequent.  Fortunately, Angie listened to a good friend who is a published author and who has had great success with Writer’s Relief. Our expert researchers take all the anxiety out of making writing submissions while boosting your odds of getting an acceptance. And that’s exactly what happened—Angie’s writing has been published in Birdy Magazine, The Loch Raven Review, The MacGuffin, Rattle, and other literary journals.

Read on and watch the video to hear how Writer’s Relief helped Angie develop a submissions strategy that’s effective and stress-free!

In Angie’s Own Words

I started writing poetry in 2017 after I wandered into a poetry class taught by Diane Frank, the chief editor of Blue Light Press. Diane encouraged all of us to think about publishing our poems, which was something I had never considered. Whenever I thought about sending my heart out into the world (so to speak), I literally got the shakes. I sent out a few poems randomly and had some success, but my submission method was scattershot and disorganized.

I kept hearing about Writer’s Relief, and after some time, I applied during one of their Review Board’s open reading periods. To my surprise, I was accepted. But I did not have success with my first round of poems and was immediately discouraged again. The Writer’s Relief team encouraged me to continue, explaining that acceptances are really a numbers game. Another fabulous teacher and mentor, Kathleen McClung, said the same thing. Despite this, I dropped out.

But my dear friend Abby Caplin had found incredible success with Writer’s Relief, so I eventually rejoined. This time, I, too, have found amazing success. In four rounds of submissions, I’ve had seven poems accepted. I can’t tell you how happy and thrilled I am. The team has helped me target journals that appreciate my poetry, and their strategy calls are very helpful in assisting me to think about future submissions. For me, the services that Writer’s Relief provides are well worth the cost. Their proofreading skills alone are valuable. Writer’s Relief is certainly a boon to writers, and I consider it a very valuable investment in my writing career!
