December 21 marks the Winter Solstice—the shortest day of the year. And appropriately, it’s also Celebrate Short Fiction Day! To mark the occasion, Writer’s Relief has put together our short list of great short reads:

Dean Koontz’s Nameless series (a collection of six short stories)

Pottermore Presents, a three-book series by J.K. Rowling

PEN America Best Debut Short Stories 2019, a collection of the newest voices in short fiction

The Short Novels of John Steinbeck, a Penguin Classics collection of Steinbeck’s brilliant short novels
