Deadline: Thursday, February 16th

Today is Drop Everything And Read Day (aka D.E.A.R. Day)! While D.E.A.R. Day was originally created to celebrate children’s author Beverly Cleary’s birthday and the adventures of her eight-year-old main character Ramona Quimby, it’s a holiday that can be celebrated by readers of any age. And what better way to honor this special day than by dropping your chores and picking up a great book?

Since reading is one of our favorite activities/obsessions here at Writer’s Relief, we’ve put together a list of the books we think are worth dropping everything for. So put down that pen, close your laptop, let the laundry wait, wash your car tomorrow—and check out our reading list to find your next great read!

Two lovely books I’ve just read: All the Light You Cannot See and The Industry of Souls. The first for its exquisite lightness of language and unique story line about WW II, the second because of its endearing main character, who thrives despite many years spent in the gulag.

I love the idea of DEAR – if only I could do it more often! I saw the Hidden Figures movie and thought it was great. I should add the book to my list.
