Our featured client, John Ballantine, is a professor at Brandeis International Business School when he’s not busy organizing “poetry potlucks” at his home with his family. John’s work has been published in Arkansas Review, Crack the Spine, Green Hills Literary Lantern, and many other literary journals.

In John Ballantine’s Own Words:

My writing is a longstanding avocation and reflection of being in the world of my family, the equations I discuss in class, the books I read, and the films I watch. I write on a daily basis, and I have notebooks filled with work that’s inspired by writing prompts. These musings become the basis for my writing projects. I soon realized, however, that finding the appropriate places to send my work was even more difficult than finding my voice as a writer.

A friend in my writing group recommended Writer’s Relief and for the past three years, they’ve helped me target the best literary journals for my work. They even created my cover letter for me.  Thanks to Writer’s Relief, I’ve had eight publications accept my work. I feel very lucky to have Writer’s Relief helping me—getting acceptances reaffirms my commitment to writing and makes me feel great! My advice is to keep writing, keep practicing, and trust Writer’s Relief.
