Click on the video above to hear about Jon’s experience with Writer’s Relief!

We’re thrilled to introduce our Featured Client, Jon Pearson! With publication credits that include Existere, Sou’wester, West Wind Review, and other fine journals, Jon Pearson has quickly established a name for himself as a writer. And he deserves the recognition: In his short prose, he has a talent for capturing human nature that is shared by only the most gifted authors. Quirky and unusual as Jon’s characters are, they come to life through his words and seem as vivid as anyone you might meet in the real world. Below, Jon discusses his writing in his own words and describes his experience with Writer’s Relief. Watch his short video.

In Jon Pearson’s Own Words

I love to write. I hate to submit. You write your heart out and then send your little golden parakeet of love or genius or hope out into the world and watch it get run over again and again. Then I found Writer’s Relief. They take care of your creations. They find them nice homes. They do all the work while you follow your dreams.

At first I got rejected, but then I got accepted and accepted. And my world changed. “The” world changed. It was less “cruel.” And now even if I get rejections, I know those little handcrafted parakeets (stories) of mine are in a nice, warm place, waiting for their perfect homes.

More About Jon Pearson

A writer, speaker, and creative thinking consultant, Jon Pearson was once a cartoonist for the Oakland Tribune and an extra for the New York Metropolitan Opera. Secretly, though, Jon sees himself as a magician pulling hats out of rabbits or miracles out of the mundane. He writes now for the same reason he played with his food as a kid: to make the world a better place.

His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Barely South Review, Barnstorm, Carve, The Citron Review, Fiction Fix, OnTheBus, Psychoanalytic Perspectives, Sou’wester, West Wind Review, Wild Violet, Existere, and Crack the Spine.

As a creative thinking consultant, Jon has worked with more than a million people and a thousand schools and businesses. He lives in Santa Monica, California, and (along with writing) gives workshops on writing—showing writers powerful, “off-road” drawing techniques that tap the river of images secretly flowing through their minds. Jon helps people say unsayable things in unforgettable ways.
