Congratulations to our featured client Cecile Barlier! When Cecile was accepted as a client just a year ago, we were intrigued by her unique and exciting prose style. Her narration is dreamlike and surreal, with rhythms and sounds akin to those of the finest poetry. Some of her characters seem to think and function under the crushing but beautiful weight of synesthesia, and readers are rewarded with Barlier’s resulting descriptions of cascading, sliding, tumbling sensory details. She has quickly garnered acceptances and accolades, and we invite you to watch her video and visit some of her online publications to read her brilliant work.
Cecile Barlier’s short note to fellow writers:
Three of my short stories are seeing the publishing light this year. Obviously I could never have gotten here without Writer’s Relief.
And then I can keep writing.
They make me submit more…and write more.
Until I can call myself a writer.
About Cecile Barlier:
I was born in France and received my master’s degree from the Sorbonne University in Paris. For over a decade, I have lived in the United States, where I am raising my family and working as an entrepreneur. In addition to my time in France and the United States, I have traveled extensively and lived in Mexico, Spain, and England. I have been a regular student and occasional teacher at the Writer’s Studio in San Francisco for a number of years.
My work is featured or is forthcoming in the Bacopa Literary Review (first place for fiction, 2012), Cerise Press, and New Delta Review.
Congrats on all your success!
Well done ~ may the New Year bring you continued success!
