From the editors:
Tiferet is a multi-faith literary magazine devoted to the promotion of peace in the individual and the world through the written word. The word tiferet refers to a sefira or a portal to God on the Tree of Life as described in the Kabbalistic teachings. Established in the year 2006, Tiferet solicits high-quality creative endeavors from authors interested in spiritual writing in prose and sacred verse.
Spiritual literature describes a writer’s insatiable desire to merge as one with the creator. We celebrate poets like Rumi, Khalil Gibran, Mirabai, St. Francis of Assisi and modern day spiritual poets such as Jane Hirschfield, W.S. Merwin, Li Young Lee, J.P. Dancing Bear, and others. These writers are among the many that epitomize this need for an unbreakable connection to God and express their spiritual journey through glittering prose and poetic verse.
At Tiferet we look for creative pieces from a variety of religious and spiritual traditions that aim to elevate the individual and global consciousness. We publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, interviews, and art. Our focus is to publish literary pieces that highlight the writer’s honest depiction of their spiritual experiences and those that promote tolerance.
Tiferet accepts only online submissions. Handwritten or hardcopy submissions made through postal mail will not be considered and will not be returned to the sender. Writers who are interested should send four poems, one story, one essay, or one interview. Each poem must be submitted as a separate document in Microsoft Word, then submitted online through the Submission Manager.
Tiferet acquires first-time North American rights, non-exclusive, one-time anthology rights; and the right to run the story, essay, interview, poem, or art on our website, Facebook, or the Twitter link. After publication, all other rights revert back to the author, and work may be reprinted as long as appropriate acknowledgment is made to Tiferet.
Before submitting to Tiferet, you are encouraged to read the back and current issues of the magazine that are available online. Pay particular attention to authors whose content has been accepted for publication to increase your chances of being published in Tiferet.
Tiferet provides two complimentary copies of the issue in which your work is published. Authors are allowed to proof their galleys and make any revisions before final publication.
You are also invited to submit your own poems and blogs via the website. Poems are regularly featured on the home page.
