Tell us about a piece you recently published that got the staff really excited. Why did you love it? Why did it strike a chord?

Robert Wilton’s essay on Albania’s WWI experience. It is an almost forgotten campaign and the essay is full of vivacity.

Regarding submissions: What’s the most common turnoff that you encounter (in terms of craft)?

Woolly, overlong poetry and poorly constructed, unimaginative short fiction.

What’s the most common oversight (in terms of submission guidelines)?

Not reading the guidelines closely.

Why is your journal awesome?

Its lineage and heritage are nonpareils which hold us to account to publish keen and sharp writing.

Where can readers find your submission guidelines?

All the information can be found on our website.

Freeform. What else would you like to say?

The London Magazine is at the centre of British cultural and literary life. Read it and astound your friends.

Check out The London Magazine on Twitter and Facebook!

P.S. The London Magazine will be offering a 10% discount on 6-month and 1-year subscriptions available through their website on December 1. Keep an eye out for it!

Loved Lane Ashfeldt’s SaltWater from the Feb/March issue of London Magazine. I always read what’s available online – consistently great.

I have been reading London Magazine for years — I still remember the first line of a short story that amazed me years ago, it began: “She wasn’t the worst cook in the world, but she was certainly the slowest.” It was a story of a woman losing her mind while cooking for her family. It was wonderful!

1732 Really? That’s impressive. I love looking at the London Newspaper Archive. I’ll have to check out this magazine.
