Did you know that Raymond Chandler “started his writing life as a poet and a journalist—without much success. He fumbled his way through various jobs and didn’t get his fictional feet under him until he was forty-five”?
Or that “It took years of hardship and struggle before Laura Ingalls Wilder came to a place in her life that allowed her to focus meaningfully on her stories”?
Check out this great article by Writer’s Relief on the Huffington Post website: Seven Authors Who Prove It’s Never Too Late To Start Writing
I started a blog post on the sixth of January about Laura Ingalls Wilder. I had been musing about the books I have read in my lifetime which inspired me to write. I knew she was in her sixties before she began to write, and I’ve even owned a personal set of books for so many years, I don’t remember. As one of the older set, this article reaffirms I am not too old to write. I have some obstacles and challenges now, quite different from those of my younger days. I am determined to make the best of my situation, and while I am waiting on fingers to work, I am training voice recognition software, and blogging, setting up sites to connect with writers, other authors, and make as many connections as I can. I love your website, the tips, articles, and invaluable advice. Thank you!
I have been encouraging elders to write every chance I get. There is a wealth of information that our elders have experienced and I believe there is someone waiting to hear what they have to say.
Thank you for sharing. It is NEVER TOO LATE! Be determined, get it done.
Keep the faith,
Blondie
So I can wait until I am patient enough to write?
I write in small bits but get frustrated when attempting a novel.
